Introducing a new media section: Web Toys!

The first Web Toy was created by Adam Jetmalani and Devin Gaffney; they wrote up a song for sampling, but weren't really proud of it in a big enough way to consider it an actual standalone .mp3, so they left the mixing up to you. Check it out!

Midas Leonidas has run into some speedbumps with his work recently, but being the fighter that he is, he has planned to continue with his works in order to keep the phat beats rollin'. Below is an E-mail he sent to me describing his new project. Basically, it is an album that aims to personalize songs that people have felt an emotional connection to.
Most notably, this is the first true Nutmeg Unit album, the first album dedicated to the burgeoning label that Nutmeg Unit manages. So let's get together and make it count!

PSU GUITAR ORCHESTRA is holding a concert!
The new date is May 22nd at 7:30 pm, Lincoln Hall room 75 @PSU

According to our department chair, we would have been competing against an opera that's taking place above us, and we can't win that battle.

Free to all, so come!

Hey all,

Nutmeg Unit probably (shockingly enough) won't be working out for this coming summer unless some major things happen, which I don't think will.

Either way, I'm going to keep the site running until I see that it has outlived it's usefulness (perhaps it already has), and in that spirit, here's an upcoming event:

April 20th, from 12-2 PM PST in Portland, at Portland State University, Lincoln Hall 75

Jay Derderian, resident music genius, will have another playing of his quartet piece performed by the Daedalus Quartet. It should rock.

Check it out.

Update on April 10th, 2007, at about 7:10 AM EST. Location: on a plane heading towards Baltimore, then Portland.

I am on a plane bound for portland so surprise the Nutmeg crew and get the groundwork laid for renting the house, getting the gear, and making this turkey fly. I am going there unannounced, and i hope everyone's not too busy to have a few meetings in the next few days about the state of our plans. The band at Bennington is really coming around; I added some content on the bennington music page, and it is really cool; just some jamming that is going towards finding good ideas for releasing a demo tape by June ish, hopefully. I am listening to some of Nic's guitar work on the King Solomon's Reef one and probably only release, and he was totally killing. You really ought to go listen to some of his music; if anyone is going to get signed, it's probably him.

Also, by the way, Nutmeggers, i have set up contacts in Philedelphia (where a play and it's whole crew will be going on tour and possibly cross-pollinate with us), New York City, and am working on the same thing for Boston. Anyone got any west coast/midwest/other cities setup?

Michael Jackson: child rapist or pop prodigy? Tell me.

I am in Digital Arts right now, and we had to make gif animations as part of our education this morning; so, I decided to make a Gif animation for the site; you can use this in various ways; as a buddy icon or you can print it out and burn it or you can just see it sitting here and never think about it again; your call.

Here it is:Nutmeg Animation And here are various sizes of it: Nutmeg Animation, Medium Nutmeg Animation, large Nutmeg Animation

Update on March 5th, 2007, at about 4:18 PST. Location: Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Jay is a classical musician who focuses on works with the piano and guitar, and composition, and has a threatening bed of knowledge about general theory. It's good stuff.

He will be getting one of his pieces performed by a string quartet very soon.

March 22nd, 1-3pm in Cramer Hall room 453.

We will be recording as well! Tell your friends! It's part of a composition class at PSU that Jay is a part of right now, and he's doing this as part of the curriculum. It will be like riding in a sidecar, so go.

Update on February 26th, 2007, at about 1:30, EST. Location, Bennington, Vermont

The ball is now rolling for the site. Just now, I made a big addition to the media content section: 5 new movies, 4 songs by Jay Derderian, Reed's novel is back up, and Jenna added a few more pictures. All said and done, it's looking pretty cool. The plan is now to stop talking about the website and start talking about our goals for the reality of our project: how are we going to get a house, how are we going to get the money to fund this project, how are we going to make everything actually happen? Can we actually do this? That's the point the project is at now. We'll probably decide to move ahead, but gosh, tough decision to make, lots of work in the future if we do it.

Update on February 23rd, 2007, at about 6:30, EST. Location: Bennington, Vermont

Well, everything is rolling right along; we have the site going. We're going to start networking with other art sites and see if we can get around to working with them. In addition, we are looking for ARTISTS OF ANY KIND to submit their work (be it music, photography, visual art, writing, film, etc.) to Devin@NutmegUnit.com. we're trying to find more artists to host on our website; if you have anything creative that you would like to have hosted on our site, we would love to do so. We have a massive amount of space and can handle a ton of page requests, so there's no cap on how many people can see it. If you want it up, just let Devin know by sending him an E-mail, and give him a little bit of background info on you. We dun gunna hook you up.

Update on February 14th, 2007, at about 9:30, PST. Location: Olympia, Washington

Right now, the only real event is getting the website up and running;
check back in about 2 weeks, and there should be something on the docket...
